A Brief History of D&G Fragrances

Dolce & Gabbana Fragrances

Dolce & Gabbana is a revolution in a fashion that changed the way we perceive style today. An epitome of class, elegance, and finesse, this luxury fashion brand was established in 1985 by two Italian fashion stalwarts Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The brand has marked stellar growth over the years by introducing innovative design techniques and now has an impressive line of fine clothing and accessories to boast of. Today, it is the most beloved go-to fashion house for anybody to whom luxury is the personification of comfort and convenience slathered with generous touches of beauty and variety.

History of D&G’s First Fragrance

But among their stunningly beautiful and wide array of prestigious collections, perfume is the jewel in the crown. They launched their first fragrance for women in 1992 and called it Dolce & Gabbana Pour Femme. In 1993, this perfume received the prestigious award in the best feminine fragrance category from the International Perfume Academy. Infused with a rich floral character, this perfume has also been touted as the best in the last few decades. Buoyed by the women’s fragrance success, the brand launched a similar version for men in 1994 called Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme.

Reimagining Pour Femme & Pour Homme

Like its female counterpart, this too won a lot of appreciation and was adored, admired, and embraced unanimously. The masculine perfume was dominantly Fougere, which means fern-like, and is among the most prominent fragrance families. Both Pour Femme and Pour Homme by Dolce & Gabbana ruled the popular imagination of fashion lovers in the nineties. With more experience and maturity, the power-duo decided to relaunch the signature perfumes in 2012 by fine-tuning them. They brought about slight changes in the design of the bottle. They also introduced newfangled top notes like neroli, tangerine, and raspberry. The middle notes had jasmine and orange blossom. While marshmallows, heliotrope, sandalwood, and vanilla were used as the base notes.

Dolce & Gabbana Today

Today, Dolce & Gabanna’s perfumes occupy the company’s most prestigious hall of fame. Their products are a heady mix of tradition and modernity. The popular Light Blue Eau De Toilette perfumes with their evocative fragrances symbolize what is known as Mediterranean beauty and sensuality. The Pour Homme and Pour Femme perfumes are their signature brands that epitomize strength and gentleness. They also have an exclusive fruit collection in their magnificent range of perfumes which pays tribute to Sicily and its rich treasure of orchards. In short, all their perfumes are a grand celebration of olfactory exuberance.
